Mid Century Modern interior style guide

The mid-century modern style refers to the dominant furnishings of the mid-20th century. Mid-century modern furniture offers simple, pared-down designs with clean lines. It developed during the 1940s, reflecting the needs of postwar America that saw a movement towards smaller homes that could keep up with busy lifestyles. The mid-century modern style consists of simple, functional wooden pieces and mixes organic and geometric shapes with sleek curves and bold geometrics. Mid Century Modern offers an uncluttered look and provides functional forms with no excess. It’s simple with a bit of spunk.

Our walnut triple door Besta sideboard paired beautifully with this cognac sectional from Target.   Lanterns from West Elm and a tempered glass coffee from HomeDepot provide a modern element. A blue velvet armchair from AllModern on this abstract rug from Amazon gives this room the pop of color it needs.
