2019 was the year when we finally started to think that the earth's resources aren't endless and that we need to make radical changes in our way of living. That also translated to our shopping behavior, where consumers are more focused than ever on product sustainability, including both environmental and social impact. 48% of U.S. buyers would "probably" or "definitely" alter their buying habits to reduce environmental impact according to a recent Nielsen survey.
It might not come as a surprise, then, that we opt for more natural materials in our home decor. Eco-friendly materials like cane, wicker, rattan, bamboo, etc. are topping the lists of design trends for 2020. These materials can be found in various furniture, as listed below.
Cane cabinets
Norse recently launched a new collection of cane doors, fit for the Besta cabinets and TV stands from IKEA. Since you can buy the cabinet frames without doors, it's a zero-waste upgrade.

Why choose cane furniture
Cane is exceptionally durable and is made from the outer bark of the rattan plant, which is a climbing vine that grows in tropical forests. Unlike rattan, which is most commonly treated and painted, the cane is left in its natural state and is generally stronger than rattan.
Besides being a beautiful eco-friendly material, cane gives an airy feeling to a room. When using it as doors for TV stands and media consoles, it also allows you to hide cable boxes, routers, and other media equipment without worrying about overheating or having to open the door to let signal and sound through. It's also light-weight and comes in a variety of different weaving designs, which makes it versatile. There are many reasons to explore cane options!
